Everyone has a passion.

In my case it is prospecting. From the age of 5 digging quartz crystals on the farm, to working a lease on the Queensland gemfields (image is a young me with a 28ct green sapphire), to living in Africa and exploring gem mining areas in places like Namibia this passion has been a thread that has connected all the chapters of my life.

In 2017 I finally decided to live somewhere that allowed me to prospect regularly and where better in Australia than Tasmania. The cold, pristine rivers of this small island state hold a trove of beautiful gemstones. Spinel, zircon, topaz and most importantly Australia's highest quality blue sapphires. Prospecting here is not for the faint of heart, the cold seeps into your bones creating discomfort that is hard to ignore, hands cramping at night remind you of the day's activities. The sapphires are small and rare but when they do show up it makes it all worthwhile.

I have travelled Australia and the world in search of gems. I have purchased many a stone from a reputable dealer or miner but I am not a dealer or stone trader. I am first and foremost a gem enthusiast and prospector and a part of my collection will always be stones that were both shaped and found by me. Knowing the work that goes into bringing to these treasures from the earth into human hands I will always have a passion in creating the most attractive finished gems.
