Hi. I'm Des.

Nice to meet you. I thought I should tell you a little about myself.

Whilst my family is a mix of Tasmanian and Polish heritage I was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. I have loved gemstones since I was 5 years of age, forcing my family to take me fossicking and later on joining a Gem Club when it was definitely an uncool thing to do in my late teens. That is where I first started in the lapidary arts learning to cab and facet when I was 20.

I ended up with a degree in Chemical Engineering and had a 13 year career that included 6 years in Australia and 7 years in Africa. In 2017 my love of gemstones and frustration with my career saw me move to North East Tasmania to pursue my passion.

And so here I am. I see this journey with gems and jewellery that I am on as way to fulfil my passion and also a chance to create some beauty in this world. It is not a chance that all of us get and I am eternally grateful that I have the opportunity to do it.
