Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the most frequently asked questions that our customers ask.
My Tasmanian gemstones are hand dug by myself in the rivers of North Eastern Tasmania. My international gems are sourced rough from trusted gemstone dealers in Australia, the USA and elsewhere. All of my main gems are cut in my studio.
Sorry but tours are not a part of my business nor am I set up to run tours. I have an offer with Blue Derby Podrides that includes some remote fossicking where I am a guide on their tour. Otherwise my social media channels have some posts that are dedicated to fossicking including hints about what to look for.
In general the answer to this question is no. I sometimes agree to cut a clients gem if it was self fossicked in Tasmania or requires specialist skills and the cutting is a crucial part of making a larger jewellery piece. Please contact me if you think that this may be you.
In general the answer is no - often the cutting on these gems is poor and does not reflect my standard of work. Additionally it is not pleasant dealing with the risks of a gem that I liable for but do not know the quality of. I do sometimes make exceptions for sentimental pieces or for jobs where I really like the scope - please contact me if you think that this may be you.
Yes, I work closely with clients to create bespoke pieces that they can treasure. I would love to work with you on sourcing and designing the stone that would suit your needs perfectly. Please check the customs menu on the website and feel free to contact me with a request so that we can discuss creating your special piece.
I don't have a physical storefront as I live remotely and business hours do not match my workflow. You can find me on most Saturdays at Salamanca Market in Hobart (stall site 270). If you'd prefer to meet up in person to discuss your custom piece and have a look at options, please contact me to arrange.
No, my workflow does not support this option.
